Lunch with Pradeep.

Hi,

Its 13:14 on 22nd December 2005. I am at my desk after having a good lunch with Pradeep at Royal Thai (Oak Tree Rd.). Now what calls for me to make an entry here in the blog?? simple. I want to make a note of last one month in my life at Engelhard. Think beyond the obvious! Think beyond your imagination! because a person's growth is limited by his knowledge and awareness! How these things are related to Lunch??

dear, the last one month has been thought provoking. gave me chance to look back on my life and what I want to do. INSIGHT. and in the whole process i met Pradeep. I have met him earlier but it has always been a professional meeting. But in last one month I've met Pradeep, the friend cum mentor. Yes, once he came to know my plans of MBA and GMAT Score. He asked me to come and meet him. That evening we discussed my future plan. It was very insightful evening. I got some priceless knowledge.

I got gist of 10 years of career growth of Pradeep. He gave me the formula of success from his 10 years career. He puts it to simple three requirements - COMMUNICATION SKILL , INTERPERSONAL SKILL, and EXECUTION SKILL! Intellect will be an added advantage.
Since that meeting and till date the more I think over it, the more I realise that how true are his words. The above three skills are MUST. Hardwork, discipline, etc are part all part of EXECUTION SKILL. Execution Skill also requires common sense.

I was very thankful to him for guiding me in this process. His insight to life saved me few years of my life. I will never forget him and will always keep him posting about my career growth. One day I shall make him and myself proud of our discussion!

Till then keep executing the plans....

Kuch Khatti Kuch Mithi Shayari !!

Duniya mein bahut gum milenge Such mano ache dost bahut kum milenge
Jis mod par sab chod denge sath tumhara, Dost usi mod par khade hum milenge ...

Jam pe jam pine se kya fayda, Sham ko pi subah utar jayegi.
Arey do boond humari dosti ke pi le, Zindagi saari nashe mein guzar jayegi

Din k saath kabhi raat nahi hoti, Chand k saath kabhi mulaqat nahi hoti,
Jinko chahte hai hum jaan se bhi jyada, Unhi se hamari baat nahi hoti ...

Ek lamhe mein unhone hamari zindagi sawaar di, Ek lamhe mein unhone hamari zindagi ujaad di,
Kasoor unka nahi kasoor hamara tha, Jo un DO LAMHO mein hamne apni zindagi guzaar di.

Waqt guzrega hum bikhar jayenge, kaun jaane ke hum kidhar jayenge,
hum aapke dost hain yaad rakhna, jahan tanhai mili waha hum nazar aayenge

Tusi hasde ho saanu hasaan waaste, Tusi ronde ho saanu rulaan waaste.
Ik waari rooth ke to dekho soneyo, Mar jawange twanu manaan waaste. ...

roya hai dil aankh muskrai hai........ yun hi humne wafa nibhai hai..........
jo na ek lamha bhi humen de n saka............ uski khatir humne saari umar bitayi hai............

Zindagi k tufano ka sahil hai teri dosti, dil k armano ki manzil hai teri dosti, zindagi bann jaayegi jannat agar sada saath rahegi teri dosti… ...

Har dhadkan mein ek raaz hota hai, Har baat ko batane ka ek andaz hota hai,
Jab tak thokar na lage bewafai ki, Har kisi ko apne pyar par naaz hota hai...

Tute khawbao ko phir sajana aata hai, Ruthe dil ko manana aata hai...
Aap hamare gum ko dekhkar pareshaan na ho, Humein to dard mein bhi muskarana aata hai... ...

Saath rehte rehte yuhi waqt guzar jayega, dur hone k baad kaun kise yaad aiga,
Jeelo yeh pal jab hum saath hai, kal ka kya pata waqt kaha le jayega

Raat chup hai magar chand khamosh nahi, kaise keh du aaj hosh nahi,
aisa dooba teri ankhon ki gehrai me, hath me jam hai magar pineka hosh nahi…

Mehfil na hoti Nazare na hote, Yun Chand k pehlu me sitare na hote,
Hum isi liye karte hai Aapki parwah, Kyonki Dil k kareeb saare nahi hote. ...

Subney kaha Pyaar ek Dard Hai,Humney Kaha Humeay Yeah Dard Kabool Hai,
Subney kaha Es Dard Ke Sath Jee Nahee Paogey Per .... Humney Kaha Us Dard ke Sath to Marna Bhee Kabool Hai....

Har khushi kam hai, Tera ghum bhulane ke liye,
Ik tera ghum hi kaafi hai, Mujhe umr bhar rulane ke liye!!

Kaun jane kab maut ka paigam aa jaye, Zindagi ki akhari sham aa jaye, Hum toh dhundhte hain waqt aisa jab, Hamari zindagi apke kam aa jaye. ...

Tufan me khasti ko kinare bhi milte hai, jahan me logon ko sahare bhi milte hai. Duniya me sabse pyari hai zindagi, kuch log zindagi se bhi pyare milte hai

AANKHON MEIN AANSU AA JAATE HAIN PHIR BHI LABO PE HANSI RAKHNI PADTI HAI
YEH MOHABBAT BHI KYA CHEEZ HAI YAARON, JISSE KARTE HAI USEESE CHUPANI PADTI HAI ...

KABHI DOST' KEHTE HO, KABHI DUA DETE HO, KABHI BEWAKT NEEND SE JAGA DETE HO,
PAR JAB BHI HUME MILA KARTE HO, KHUDA KASAM KHUSHI HI KHUSHI DIL MAIN JAGA DETE HO...

Apki palko pe khwab rakh jayenge Apki saso pe naam likh jayenge
chalo vada hai aapse bhool jana hame Agar humse accha dost aapko mil jaaye koi ...

Aaj fir ek udasisi chai hai. Tanhai me baithe yaad aapki aayi hai.
In palko ko bandh kaise karlu, inn aankho me tasvir joh apki aayi hai...

Jam pe jam pine se kya fayda, Sham ko pi subah utar jayegi.
Arey do boond humari dosti ke pi le, Zindagi saari nashe mein guzar jayegi

Kaate nahi kat te hain lamhe intezaar ke
Nazarein jama ke baithe hain raste pe yaar ke
Dil ne kaha dekhein jo jalwe husn-e-yaar ke
Layaa hai koun inko, phalak se utaar ke
( from HAHK)

Har kadam par imtihaan leti hai zindagi, Har waqt naya sadma deti hai zindagi.
Hum jindagi se kya shikwa kare, Aap jaise dost bhi to deti hai zindagi...

Logo ko aksar kehte suna: “Zinda rahe toh phir milenge”.

Rishtey ki dastan jab waqt sunata hai, toh hame bhi koi rishta yaad aata hain,
Bhool jate hain hum zindagi ke gam ko,jab aapke saath bitaya waqt yaad aata hai.

Ek din hamare annsoon humse pooch baithe, humey roz -roz kyon bulate ho,Humne kaha hum yaad to unhe karte hain tum kyon chale aate ho. ...

Driving in Big Apple at Times Square!!!!

Hi there,

Last few days, I was only on the wheels!! I must have driven around 300 miles and allover the place... I know its not more when you compare the roadtrips during weekends but if these 300 miles are in the city then you better be careful!!

Gautam and Navneeta are going to India to get married and it called for a friday night party. The party was at Hooters and then to one of the discos. Since, I dont drink I was one of the designated driver for the night! With X-Mas shopping spree the roads were more than congested but anyway it was fun driving. We returned late in the night around 1pm. I went to drop Manish to his house. I was not sure why didn't he come in his own car. Man! He always have some manipulations up his sleeves. anyway, I was happy as I carefully drove 4 high spirited souls - Pawan, Abhishek Shah, Manish and myself back home.

Saturday afternoon went away sleeping on the couch and drinking tea. In afternoon I had to go to Office to find that the whole building has power outage. Who says power outage is characteristic of only developing countries! The building where I work is the corporate world headquarter of Engelhard Corp, a fortune 500 company!

Saturday evening, I went to Newark Airport to receive Jaidev. He has returned from India after a long vacation. Well the whole evening went away at the airport as we had to help another TCSer to change the terminal for a connecting flight to Florida. Instead of steering my car, I was busy steering the luggage cart of JD. Few more hours on the wheels!!!

Our bad luck, JD's return flight was next day morning at 7:10 a.m. Hence I need to to get up at early morning around 5:00 am. Again I had to drive from my house to airport and back. More time on the wheels.

This wasn't the end of me being constantly on the wheels... Later in the afternoon, LD and myself decided to clean the house. and well i took the responsibility of steering the vacuum cleaner across our two bedroom and a grand central hall. Done with it around 3:00pm. I took the bath and started for Abhishek Roy's house in East Windsor. On my way I dropped LD and Irfan to Shop Rite Movie Complex. Abhishek's house was 40 minutes drive. We moved old mattress and other stuff to thrash dumpster outside there colony. that added another mile on the wheels. then around 7:00 pm we started for NYC, the Big Apple.

This will be my first drive to NYC. I was very very very nervous. Anybody who is aware of the chaotic traffic on the streets of NYC can feel my nervousness, if he is also driving for the first time. As always Roy tried to boost up my confidence by saying that it wont be tough and its pretty easy once i am on the correct lane. Keeping my fingers crossed and gathering all the confidence I drove continously for another hour on NJTPK (NJ Turnpike) and crossed the Lincoln Tunnel.

Woooooooops. I am on the 42nd street of NYC. Heart of manhattan. Lights are glowing. Crowd and Visitors walking along the streets. Shoppers are still packing their bags with X-Mas Gifts. Tour buses are packed with all colors and creed of people. A year back I used to be one of them. Belive me it was a different feeling being on the other side of the road. It was more different being on the HOT SEAT of the Car. That also, when the car being driven is your first car. I couldn't belive that I was driving on the times square..................... well some realities look and feel like dreams. it was one of them.

Abhi has moved to Tudor City, the last building on the 42nd street. Right across the street was the UN's headquarter. After shifting the luggage, both of us came down stairs for a stroll. Another unforgettful moment. River Hudson is flowing just a stone throw away. UN the headquarter is few steps away. Times Square is 5 minutes away but you can see the dazzling lights and colorful crowd from there itself. Sky is clear and one can literally count the stars. I want to reach there!!!!!!

Well decided, if I am coming back to US for work then it has to be NYC. I don't mind being on bench for a month but it will be only NYC.

TO FETCH STARS, ONE HAS TO BE NEAR THEM!!!!! I AM COMING BIG APPLE!

Two Very Simple Fundas of Life

(1) Live and let live.

(2) Self-Restraint. It carries a top priority rating. When we speak or act hastily or rashly, the ability to be fair-minded and tolerant evaporates on the spot. One unkind tirade or one willful snap judgment can ruin our relation with another person for a whole day, or maybe a whole year. Nothing pays off like restraint of tongue and pen. We must avoid quick-tempered criticism and furious, power-driven argument. The same goes for sulking or silent scorn. These are emotional booby traps baited with pride and vengefulness. Our first job is to sidestep these traps. When we are tempted by the bait, we should train ourselves to step back and think. For we can neither think nor act to good purpose until the habit of self-restraint has become automatic."

Abhishek.

A great note for all to read.

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.
One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each
afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was
next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all
his time flat on his back.
The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and
families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the
military service, where they had been on vacation.
Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit
up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the
things he could see outside the window.
The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour
periods
where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the
activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans
played on the water while children sailed their model boats.
Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and
a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.
As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail,
the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and
imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade
passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he
could see it.in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window
portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to
bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of
the
man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was
saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body
away.
As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he
could
be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the
switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him
alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take
his
first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn
to look out the window beside the bed. It faced a blank wall.
The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased
roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this
window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not
even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to
encourage you."

Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy,
despite our own situation. .Shared grief is half the sorrow, but
happiness when shared, is doubled.

Yahoo 360 to Blogger

Hi,

Finally, I decided to make my blog space on both worlds - Yahoo 360 and Blogger, to be in sync. Since July 2005, i have been scribbling entries to 360. But it still has few limitation compared to Blogger so, I decided to use my long time created id and just make the similar entries here.... Well, it wasn't as simple as - copy and paste. Had to make changes and space accordingly. But at the end of the day I am happy. Will try to keep my blogs updated here.

I hope you will enjoy reading this blog, which will reflect my thoughts and my various interest..... keep reading.

Thx,
Abhishek

FAMILY

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."
I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

FAMILY Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think? So what is behind the story?
Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU
